Heung-min Son could miss the start of Tottenham's season after he was named in South Korea’s squad for next month’s Asian Games.

Son is one of three over-age players in the 20-man squad for the Under-23s competition in Indonesia, running August 14-September 1. The Premier League starts on August 10. Son played all three of South Korea’s matches at the World Cup.

Standard Sport revealed earlier this month that Spurs were minded to allow Son to play, even though they do not have to release the striker.

If South Korea win the competition, there is a chance the 26-year-old would be exempt from his 21-month stint of military service, mandatory for all able-bodied males up to the age of 28.
