Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon has joined Atletico Madrid on loan for the season.

Reguilon, who is currently overcoming injury, passed a medical on Tuesday before putting the finishing touches on a season-long deal, which is understood to not include an option to buy.

Atletico will pay Reguilon’s wages.

The 25-year-old Spain international joined Spurs from Real Madrid in September 2020 and made 31 appearances in all competitions last season, taking his tally to 67 in his two seasons in north London.

Reguilon had not played for Conte's side this season and had been training alone since the start of pre-season having been left out of the manager’s plans for the campaign.

Harry Winks is also working on a similar deal with Sampdoria, while Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele have also been shipped out. Bryan Gil is another who could leave on a temporary deal before the window shuts.
