Tottenham went down 2-0 at Manchester United in a disappointing evening for Antonio Conte’s side.
Second-half goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes earned a deserved win for United, who dominated the game in their best performance under Erik ten Hag.

Stranded by the deflection on Fred’s strike and powerless to stop Fernandes’ clincher. Made four sharp saves inside the first 25 minutes, with a low dive to deny Marcus Rashford and fingertip stop from Luke Shaw’s volley the picks.
Also saved brilliantly from Rashford in the second half. Kept the scoreline respectable.
Cristian Romero 5
Supposed to be a press-resistant centre-half but struggled with United’s intensity as much as anyone and looked out of sorts.
Eric Dier 4
Lost possession in the build-up to Fred’s goal with a careless touch. Jittery on the ball all night and given the run around by Rashford.
Ben Davies 4
Unlucky to deflect Fred’s effort past his own goalkeeper. Struggled to progress the ball and is not in the same class as Clement Lenglet at passing out.
Matt Doherty 5
Occasionally threatened in the first half but increasingly forced onto the back foot, which is not his strength.

Uncharacteristically sloppy. Especially uncomfortable in the face of United’s relentless press.

Clearly rusty and often outnumbered in the middle. His touch was heavy.

Tried to calm things down and looked to get forward in support of Kane and Son but did not fare much better than his midfield partners.
Ivan Perisic 6
Got in some good positions but his final ball was lacking. Beaten by pace by Diego Dalot who created a great chance for Luke Shaw in the first half.
Heung-min Son 5
A peripheral figure and rarely threatened United all night.
Harry Kane 7
Spurs’ best outfield player. Hit a succession of impressive diagonals, and tested David de Gea at the end of the first half.
