Tottenham are on their way to Wembley after a 2-0 win over Brentford to reach the Carabao Cup final.

Moussa Sissoko scored a rare goal, heading into the top corner from Sergio Reguilon’s cross to give Spurs the lead, befor Heung-min Son made the game safe after half-time with a trademark finish.

Spurs fully deserved a place in the first domestic final since 2015 where they will face Man City or Man United.

Tottenham player ratings

Hugo Lloris 6

Flapped at the ball for Ivan Toney’s disallowed equaliser which might have proved costly had the striker not been an inch offside on review. Otherwise, commanded his area well.

Serge Aurier 7

A little erratic but defended well when called upon, notable by making a crucial, goal-saving block to deny Toney at 1-0. Moments later, blazed over the bar from a good position at the other end.

Davinson Sanchez 6

Made a solid start but his confidence seemed to drain after being skinned by Bryan Mbeumo early in the second half. Rarely looks comfortable on the ball.

Another commanding performance at the heart of defence. Establishing himself as a key part of Mourinho’s undroppable spine.

Sergio Reguilon 7

Created Sissoko’s goal with a superb cross but given a tough examination by Mbuemo at times. Replaced by Davies after the second goal after being booked for crunching challenge on Toney.

Played his part in the third goal by winning the ball and used the ball well, while being typically effective without it. Lucky to avoid serious injury after Josh DaSilva’s studs-up challenge which earned him a red card.

Stepped up with a rare and vital goal, which was superbly taken. Did his job well and involved in the final third, including a cross for a big Son chance. Lucky to get away with a poor defensive header from a long throw.

So many lovely feints and touches, including an inch-perfect pass to assist Son’s goal. Completed 90 minutes too, which felt significant.

Lucas Moura 7

Saw a header clawed off the line from Raya. Too often made the wrong decision but did create openings with cute passes for Son, Aurier and Sissoko in the second half.

Heung-min Son 8

Brilliantly-taken, trademark goal after a run behind and nearly scored with a precision volley too. So deadly in the final third.

Harry Kane 7

Played a part in Son’s goal with the pre-assist for Ndombele. Had a late chance to made it 3-0 blocked but quiet by his own high standards, to Brentford’s credit.

Substitutes

Introduced to help Spurs see out the game. Beaten to a back post header but largely untested.

Helped to keep possession as Spurs closed out the match.

Played the final few minutes – in midfield – after Hojbjerg’s injury.

Another brief cameo.
