Victor Wanyama has made a return to Tottenham training for the first time since August as he steps up his recovery from a knee problem.

The Kenyan, who took part in part of Spurs training session in the snow on Monday, has been absent for nearly four months having picked up a knee injury in training ahead of a Wembley clash with Burnley in the opening weeks of the season.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has struggled with options in midfield this season. The Argentine was without both Wanyama and Mousa Dembele for some time and, while a pairing of Harry Winks and Eric Dier did well in their absence, an injury to Toby Alderweireld has called the latter into defensive duties of late.

Pochettino will not be the only happy one to see Wanyama progressing, though. Over the weekend the former Southampton and Celtic midfielder shared photos of a Kenyan Tottenham Supporters fan club holding a ‘get well soon’ march for the 26-year-old.
