Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama honoured with Best of Africa role model award

Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama has won a Best of Africa role model award for his ongoing charity work.

The 25-year-old collected his accolade alongside model Tidiou M'Baye at the Rosewood Hotel.

Previous winners include Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba, Odion Ighalo and Alex Song.

Wanyama joined Spurs from Southampton last summer and has established himself as a key member of Mauricio Pochettino's side to become one of the most high-profile African players in the Premier League.

Wanyama said: "Honoured to win an award for my work helping disadvantaged children in Kenya.

"It is important to help those less fortunate than ourselves."
