Tottenham legend Gareth Bale wishes Arsenal luck ahead of the FA Cup Final

Flashback: Bale celebrates scoring against Arsenal

He might be an icon at White Hart Lane but it seems Gareth Bale will be cheering on his former team's greatest rivals today.

The Real Madrid winger took to Twitter to wish luck to Arsenal stars Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey with a tweet.

But any Spurs fan that may rage against the man who left them for Spain in 2013 should show understanding for Bale, who has close friendships with both players.

Ramsey has served as Bale's captain on the Welsh national team and the two have been vital parts of Chris Coleman's side as they push for a place at Euro 2016. Both players scored in a 3-0 away win in Israel that took Wales to the top of their qualifying group.

Walcott's relationship with the Madrid star dates back to their time together at the Southampton academy, where the Arsenal star lodged with Bale whilst they learned their trade. The north London rivalry has not diminished the friendship between the two of them.

In a 2011 interview the 26-year-old England winger said of Bale: "He's so down-to-earth, all the limelight hasn't changed him."

FA Cup final preview: Aston Villa vs Arsenal

1/11

Both Arsenal players will face a fight to make Arsene Wenger's XI for this afternoon's match with Aston Villa, as the likes of Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud give Arsene Wenger a selection headache. If they do, they'll know they can rely on support from Madrid.
