Antonio Conte ‘worried’ amid Tottenham injury problems

Antonio Conte bemoaned a number of injuries within his Tottenham squad ahead of the frantic fixture schedule before the World Cup.

Dejan Kulusevski missed Saturday’s disappointing loss to Arsenal, a typically eventful north London derby, with a muscle injury picked up while away on international duty with Sweden.

Hugo Lloris was a doubt heading into the game too, while Conte is also without Lucas Moura and Ben Davies. Elsewhere, Oliver Skipp and Matt Doherty are making their returns from long-term absences.

Spurs travel to Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday as the Champions League group stages get back underway before Premier League games against Brighton, Everton, Manchester United, Newcastle and Bournemouth before the end of the month.

Speaking after the loss at the Emirates Stadium, Conte said: “We have to try to not have more injuries, because today, Kulusevski was out, Moura, I’m worried about, he’s far from recovering. It’s also important to recover Ben Davies.

“We are trying to do our best, we’ll continue to do this and now we have to move on quickly because on Tuesday, we have an important game. We have to take some positivity from this game and understand that we have to continue to work to improve.”
