Why cheeky Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho bought Real Madrid kits for Mauricio Pochettino's kids

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed his Tottenham successor Jose Mourinho bought Real Madrid kits for his kids when the pair were managing in LaLiga.

Back in 2012 when Pochettino was in charge of Espanyol, there was plenty of speculation linking the Argentine with Mourinho's job at the Bernabeu.

Even Pochettino himself was privately confident the move would happen, but attempted to play down talk of a move to Madrid ahead of a league fixture against Real.

Reflecting on the build-up to the match, Pochettino said: "We were playing Real Madrid and before the game the media asked me about [the Real Madrid job]. I said my kids sleep in Espanyol pyjamas, so it's difficult to think about changing!

"When I arrived at the stadium, Jose was waiting for me with a bag with a very nice bottle of French red wine and two kits of Real Madrid shirts and shorts.

"He said, 'It's okay, these are for your kids to wear from now on!' We were joking from there and we have kept a very good relationship. I am so happy he is at Tottenham, replacing me.
