Tottenham are growing frustrated over Haringey Council’s delay in approving their proposal to build 330 new homes on a site outside the White Hart Lane railway station, which could help generate income towards the stadium project.

The lack of progress over the proposal has prompted Spurs to appeal to the planning inspectorate on the grounds of Haringey’s “non-determination”.

Forty per cent of the new homes will be affordable housing, while the project includes office space and a cafe.

This setback follows the embarrassment of delays surrounding their new stadium, which was intended to host its first Premier League game this weekend with the visit of Liverpool.

However, following lengthy delays, as well as the Liverpool games, matches against Cardiff, Manchester City and Watford, as well as all home Champions League group stage games, have been relocated, with no set date for an opening game at the new stadium.

Spurs have already provided new homes in the area, playing a part in a 2015 project which delivered 222 new affordable properties in the area.
