Andros Townsend believes there were a number of fringe players who staked their claim for a Premier League role as Tottenham survived a scare against Nottingham Forest.

Spurs came from behind to win 3-1 at home to the Championship outfit and Mauricio Pochettino made 11 changes to the side which lost to West Brom.

And Townsend believes Pochettino will have a selection headache after certain players played their way into the Argentine's thinking ahead of Saturday's north London derby against Arsenal.

"The performances have been okay but the results have not been there so it was good to get a morale-boosting win with the big game coming up on Saturday," he said.

"The manager made a lot of changes tonight but I think the lads that played tonight showed that they are good enough to be selected on Saturday so I'm sure the manager has got a few problems and he'll want that."
