Tottenham's Heun-min Son has hailed his 'amazing' home debut after the forward's brace helped Spurs open their Europa League campaign with a 3-1 victory against FK Qarabag on Thursday night.

Spurs were installed as overwhelming favourites prior to kick off but fell behind after Kieran Trippier conceded a penalty, which Richard Almeida duly dispatched.

Son restored parity with a simple finish from inside the six-yard box before poking home from close range following superb build up play from midfielder Dele Alli.

Erik Lamela put the result to bed late on and the South Korea international was delighted to have shown Spurs' home crowd what he is capable of.

"The fans were amazing. It was great at White Hart Lane. It was amazing. The first half was not the best but we're happy to win."

The 23-year-old, whose move to north London made him the most expensive Asian player in history, was quick to praise Alli's contribution for his second goal of the evening.

"Dele Alli is a great player. He's young and talented - I can link up well with him," insisted the forward.

Alli thrived in an attacking midfield role and produce several excellent pieces of skill that could see him force his way into Mauricio Pochettino's thoughts for Sunday's London derby against Crystal Palace.

The 19-year-old was pleased with his side's overall display after they overcame such an early setback: "It was a solid performance from us. We were unfortunate to give away the first goal but it was a good overall display.

"They made us work for the win - they're not a bad side. They did well. I'm happy for Son that he got two goals and that I played a part. It's always good to help the team."
