Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has revealed he will use the World Cup break to hold talks with the club over possible January signings and his own future.

Spurs spent heavily in the summer, bringing in the likes of Richarlison and Yves Bissouma and five others signings to bolster the squad ahead of the return to Champions League and with a view to mounting a title bid.

Conte will on Saturday against Leeds, in Spurs’ final game before the World Cup, look to secure third spot over the break despite losing three of their last four game.

The manager will speak to chairman Daniel Levy and managing director Fabio Patarici to discuss ways to assess the first months of the season and areas in which the team can improve.

On transfer targets he said: "Honestly until now we didn't speak but for sure after the first half of the season it's right to have a meeting with the club and discuss the positives and negatives and how we can improve. Then we'll see what we can do.

"It depends always on the possibilities, also the ambition [of the club]. But for sure, we'll speak. Also to have a good evaluation of this first part of the season where I've seen a lot of positive things. But injuries and playing every three days, we struggled a lot. In future, we have to try to improve, to be better, to face this type of situation. We have to discuss with the club to make the right decision."

Conte's deal expires at the end of the season but the club has an option to extend his contract by a further year.

He said: "On my side, it's important for me professionally to feel I deserve a new contract, to sign a new contract with this club. I have to feel this. But for sure we'll talk with the club and find the best solution.

"When you start a path with a club, your dream is to stay here many years and try to build something important. I think it's very important the relationship you create with your players, the club, the environment around you. And don't forget also the ambition.

"It will be very important to match all these situations. If you are lucky, to find all of these situations for a coach it's simpler to stay for a project long-term.

"But in modern football, to find everything like this is not simple and many times there are problems, problems that bring the coach after two or three years to go away or be sacked! Don't forget there are two ways [to depart] - you could go away or be sacked. In England, before we're used that when you decide a manager to take charge to give a lot of time.

"Now England is becoming like Italy. When the result is not good, you're ready to change quickly."
