Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has hailed the point his side secured in today's 2-2 draw against Manchester City as "massive".

Spurs were outplayed in the first half at the Etihad Stadium, forcing Pochettino to alter his side's formation.

But City raced into a two-goal lead in the second half regardless as Hugo Lloris made two glaring errors to gift Leroy Sane and Kevin de Bruyne simple tap ins.

The north Londoners were staring down the barrel of a chastening defeat but Dele Alli and Heung-min Son both found the net late on to claim a valuable point.

Spurs have cut Chelsea's lead at the top of the table to six points and Pochettino was pleased to salvage something from the clash against Pep Guardiola's men.

"They were better in first half, it was difficult for us," Pochettino told BT Sport.

"In the second, we were a bit better with more energy but then we conceded.

"We needed to show quality and personality. We showed great character at 2-0 we had belief and it was the perfect thing. It was a massive point for us."

Meanwhile, City felt they should have had a penalty when Kyle Walker shoved Raheem Sterling just moments before Son's equaliser.

The right-back has admitted he shoved his countryman but Pochettino is adamant referee Andre Marriner was right not to award a spot kick.

"For me it was not a penalty," said the Argentine coach.

"That is England, and you know it is the same if we complain Leroy Sane hand-balled for the first goal."
