Brentford defender Tony Craig will not return from injury against Dagenham and Redbridge in the League Cup tonight.

Craig missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Port Vale with an ankle knock and manager Uwe Rosler has confirmed that the 28-year-old will not feature at Griffin Park.

On-loan Cardiff defender Ben Nugent has been given permission to play and could make his first start since moving to the club until January. New signing Jack Bonham could also start with goalkeeper Richard Lee ruled out with a shoulder injury.

Dagenham lost 3-1 at Fleetwood on the opening day of the season and manager Wayne Burnett is likely to make changes.

Burnett, who is without Luke Wilkinson and Matt Saunders because of injuries, was unhappy with his team’s poor defending and expects an improvement tonight.

He said: “Frustration is an understatement. People are given specific jobs in the box and if they do not do it, with all the coaching, all the information and instructions, there is not a great deal you can do about it. We made it tougher for ourselves, if you do not mark from set-pieces that happens.

“I was disappointed with the result at the weekend because I felt we really got going.

“We went two goals down and I felt we did not really get out of the blocks in the first 15 to 20 minutes.”

Dagenham have never won in the League Cup since their debut in the competition in 2007, scoring just four times in six consecutive defeats.
