On target: Costa hit a hat-trick against Swansea to take his season tally to seven
Standard Sport16 September 2014

Diego Costa admits he will not be able to maintain his fantastic goalscoring record for Chelsea.

The Blues kept their perfect start to the new season in tact with a 4-2 victory over Swansea City on Saturday, and Costa kept his cool to score his first hat-trick in English football.

That treble took the 25-year-old's tally to seven Premier League goals in just four games, a haul Fernando Torres reached after 43 games in a Chelsea shirt.

But Costa, who heaped praise on those playing behind him, knows he will struggle through a goal drought at some point this season.

“It is different for every striker who comes here," Costa said.

“Every striker has their way of playing and their strengths and a different team behind them. That is very important. If you do not have the team behind you then you can’t do things on your own. It all depends on the team. It could be because of that.

“I try to play in the best manner, and hopefully things will continue like this. But there will be a moment when I cannot score - that is football."
