Steven Gerrard waved goodbye to Anfield last Saturday on an emotional day on Merseyside.

The Liverpool captain will leave the club this summer for MLS side LA Galaxy 17-years after making his debut, having come on as a last-minute substitute against Blackburn Rovers in 1998.

Liverpool would go on to lose 3-1 to Crystal Palace on Gerrard’s grand farewell, but speaking after match, the Reds legend admitted it was day he had been ‘dreading’.

"It felt very strange," admitted Gerrard after the game. "I've been dreading this moment, I will miss it so much. I have loved every minute and I am devastated that I will not play in front of these supporters again."

But it Saturday’s send-off was more than just a seas of banners, chants and Gerrard leading his three daughters through the ‘guard of honour’ formed by Liverpool and Crystal Palace players.

There was a musical accompaniment too.

George Sephton has been the ‘Voice of Anfield’ for nearly 44 years. In tribute to Liverpool’s departing captain, he comprised - with suggestions from Liverpool fans - a 36-song-long playlist to blast over the Anfield loudspeaker to help the club pay their respects to Gerrard.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">As promised. Yesterday's playlist. Most of them got an airing but not quite all of them <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=9&amp;id=222025&amp;p=http://t.co/0SuAKRsQGp" class="body-link" data-vars-item-name="BL-44911-http://t.co/0SuAKRsQGp" data-vars-event-id="c23">pic.twitter.com/0SuAKRsQGp</a>— George Sephton (@VoiceOfAnfield) <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/VoiceOfAnfield/status/599852943349784576" class="body-link" data-vars-item-name="BL-44911-https://twitter.com/VoiceOfAnfield/status/599852943349784576" data-vars-event-id="c23">May 17, 2015</a>

He conceded after the match that ‘not quite all of them’ reverberated around the ground on Gerrard’s big day, as he released the official playlist to the masses.
