Take the Tube from Thierry Henry to Gareth Bale (change at George Graham) - the London Underground map with a difference

The iconic London Tube map has been repurposed many times over the years to show all kinds of information.

The Press Association’s MatchStory team have used their historical player database to produce a graphical rendition of the careers of many of London’s most famous footballers and the clubs at which they made their name.

Using Clive Allen, the only footballer to have represented six London clubs, as a starting point and matching him with Kings Cross St. Pancras, the only station serving six lines, each club has been matched to a line, and each station to someone who has played for or managed the corresponding team(s).

Finchley Road, where the Jubilee Line (Arsenal) meets the Metropolitan Line (Chelsea), has been renamed David Rocastle as he represented both clubs. Holborn, where the Piccadilly Line (Tottenham) meets the Central Line (Charlton) becomes Garth Crooks and Elephant & Castle where the Northern Line meets the Bakerloo Line becomes the West Ham and Fulham legend, Bobby Moore.

While the mapping of clubs to lines cannot be geographically accurate, the Press Association created an algorithm to generate the best-fitting combination offootballers and clubs with stations and lines.
