After finding himself on the the substitutes bench for their opening match against Honduras, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud starts in Salvador.

Karim Benzema, scorer of two of France's three goals in the comfortable win Porto Alegre, partners the Arsenal man in attack, while QPR forward Loic Remy must once again make do with a place on the substitutes bench.

Switzerland, who sealed a stoppage time win over Ecuador last time out, make two changes as super-sub match winners Mehmedi and Seferovic are rewarded with places in the starting line-up by head coach Ottmar Hitzfeld.

Switzerland starting XI: Benaglio, Lichtsteiner, Djourou, von Bergen, Rodriguez, Behrami, Inler, Shaqiri, Xhaka, Mehmedi, Seferovic.

Subs: Sommer, Ziegler, Senderos, Lang, Barnetta, Stocker, Dzemaili, Fernandes, Gavranovic, Drmic, Schar, Burki.

France starting XI: Lloris, Debuchy, Varane, Sakho, Evra, Sissoko, Cabaye, Matuidi, Valbuena, Giroud, Benzema.
