Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho made three changes to the side which lost at West Ham as the Blues prepared to face Stoke in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.

Cesc Fabregas dropped out of the squad completely, as Oscar was brought into a strong Chelsea starting XI, while John Obi Mikel was brought in to partner Ramires in the absence of the suspended Nemanja Matic.

Elsewhere, Cesar Azpilicueta was forced to settle for a spot among the substitutes as Abdul Baba Rahman came into the line-up alongside Gary Cahill, John Terry and Kurt Zouma.

Bertrand Traore, Kenedy, Papy Djilobodji, Marco Amelia and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were all named on an inexperienced Chelsea bench.

Stoke: Butland, Bardsley, Shawcross, Wollscheid, Muniesa, Whelan, Adam, Diouf, Afellay, Arnautovic, Walters. Subs: Ireland, Odemwingie, Wilson, Sidwell, Shaqiri, Given, Crouch.

Chelsea: Begovic, Zouma, Cahill, Terry, Baba, Ramires, Mikel, Willian, Oscar, Hazard, Costa. Subs: Traore, Djilobodji, Kenedy, Remy, Azpilicueta, Amelia, Loftus-Cheek.

Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)
