Stiliyan Petrov looking to upset English fans

11 April 2012

Stiliyan Petrov wants to crown his international career by leading Bulgaria to the Euro 2012 finals at England's expense.

The Aston Villa skipper is to retire from international football at the end of the campaign.

But the 31-year-old would dearly love to end on a high note by qualifying for the finals in Ukraine and Poland in two years time.

Petrov said: "England will be favourites to go through from our group but I've decided this will be my last international campaign and would love to lead Bulgaria to the finals.

"I won't be too popular at Wembley! We know how strong England are. They had a disappointing World Cup and they are going to try and show the fans that is behind them.

"They will try to win the game. We know it is going to be tough for us. We need to be very organised.

"We don't have the same talent they have. But we will try to perform well, work as a unit and see what we can get from the game.

"England are in a period of change but it could go both ways.

"It could be good for us, it could be bad for us. We hope it will end good for us!"
