Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has dismissed claims the club have agreed a deal with a consortium led by Arsenal legend Tony Adams to sell the club for £200million.

A report on Tuesday claimed that the consortium, headed by Adams and backed by European investors, had struck an agreement to buy Palace for the mammoth amount of £200m.

The story, which was reported by the Daily Star, had said Adams and former Chelsea executive Paul Smith previously held talks with Aston Villa and Sunderland about a potential takeover, but had now turned their attentions to Palace.

However, writing on his official Twitter account on Tuesday morning, Parish hit back at the story saying: "This story is not true, there are no deals in place or discussions to sell the club.

"I shook his hand [...] once at an Arsenal game for 10 seconds, other than that I've never met him."

American investors Josh Harris and David Blitzer currently each own an 18 per cent stake in Palace after the pair agreed a deal with Parish in 2015.
