Arsene Wenger is "the best person" to bring major trophies to Arsenal, according to the Premier League club's majority shareholder Stan Kroenke.
Wenger ended ongoing speculation about his long-term future on Wednesday afternoon by signing a two-year deal at Emirates Stadium.
The 67-year-old, who recently lifted the FA Cup for a record-breaking seventh time, has faced fierce opposition from fans this season.
Some section of the Gunners' support urged Wenger to bring his tenure to an end, having grown disillusioned with their perceived lack of progress under the Frenchman.
Wenger has failed to win the title or mount a serious Champions League challenge for several years but Kroenke is adamant Wenger remains the right man to help Arsenal compete for the game's top honours.
“Our ambition is to win the Premier League and other major trophies in Europe," he told Arsenal's official website.
"It’s what the fans, players, staff, manager and board expect and we won’t rest until that is achieved.
"Arsene is the best person to help us make that happen. He has a fantastic track record and has our full backing."

Kroenke has reaffirmed his own commitment to Arsenal earlier this month after rejecting a £1billion takeover bid from Alisher Usmanov, the Gunners’ second leading shareholder.
Meanwhile, Standard Sport understands Wenger will be handed £100million to turn his side into Premier League title challengers.
