Danny Welbeck will make his first start for Arsenal since May 2016 in their FA Cup fourth round trip to Southampton.
The 26-year-old has played just 21 minutes of first-team football since returning from knee surgery last month but will feature in Arsene Wenger’s frontline as he looks to reach the fifth round for the seventh year in a row.
Wenger will be watching on from the stands at St Mary’s after being handed a four match touchline ban for pushing Anthony Taylor during Sunday’s 2-1 win over Burnley.
Wenger has also handed starts to Rob Holding, Kierna Gibbs, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Jeff Reine-Adelaide, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in central midfield and Alexis Sanchez on the bench.
