Slaven Bilic tells Marseille to cough up the cash if they want to sign Dimitri Payet from West Ham

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has called on Marseille to cough up the cash if they want to sign Dimitri Payet this month.

At last week’s pre-match press conference, Bilic revealed that Dimitri Payet had refused to play for the Hammers, telling the club he wanted to rejoin Marseille.

The France international has been banished to train with the Under-23 squad, with his future in limbo. West Ham want £35m, but Marseille’s best bid so far has been £22m.

Bilic said: “You want to solve the problems in-house but it was not possible. I am sad it happened, it’s not good for him, for us, for football in general, but it happens.

“We will not sell our best players on the cheap just because someone wants him. The ball is in their court. They are the ones who expressed interest. We are very firm, we know the market.”
