Shkodran Mustafi has made his first appearance for Arsenal following his £35million move from Valencia.

The Germany international made his debut against Southampton at Emirates Stadium on September 10, 2016.

Mustafi arrived in north London in the days before August's transfer deadline as Arsene Wenger sought defensive cover for injured pair Per Mertesacker and Gabriel.

The 24-year-old spent three years with Everton between 2009 and 2012, but never made a Premier League appearance before moving to Sampdoria and then on to Mestalla Stadium.

On the international stage, Mustafi made three appearances for Germany as they won the World Cup in 2014.

Asked how he and Lucas Perez had settled, Wenger said: "Very quickly and very well.

"What they do in training is promising. They have the focus and the quality in training that we expected and on that front I'm very happy."

The Frenchman added: “Mustafi is young but he already has lots of experience, international experience."
