School of hard knocks for Watford's Andreas Weimann

Ian Gibb11 April 2012

Watford are puzzled by the strange case of loan forward Andreas Weimann.

One minute he is getting substituted at Doncaster with what manager Malky Mackay described after Saturday's game as a 'heavy knock' but just 48 hours later he is back at parent club Aston Villa to play for their reserves against Wolves.

Obviously, Villa's idea of being fit is different to Watford's because the Premier League club put him through 61 minutes of action yesterday as their second string side went down 3-1.

Weimann's deal with Watford is until the end of the season but as it is a youth loan he can be called back by Villa at 24 hours' notice, providing it is not for first-team matches.

Watford expect to have the 19-year-old Austrian, who has scored two goals in eight games for the club, back for Saturday's game with Millwall.
