Sam Vokes goes to Bristol City on loan

11 April 2012

Wolves striker Sam Vokes has joined Bristol City on loan for the first half of the season.

Vokes, who joined Wolves from Bournemouth two years ago, also had a temporary spell at Leeds last season.

The Wales international has made only 10 starts for Wolves and manager Mick McCarthy said: "Sam contributed to our success in getting promoted to the Premier League.

"Then, because of that success, we signed other players making it more difficult for him to get a spot in the starting line up.

"Good players need more games and I'm hoping that Sam will get some regular football at Bristol because he is more than capable of playing in the Championship.

"The only way that he will improve is by playing week in, week out and at the moment I can't guarantee that for him here."
