West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has vowed to strengthen his squad.

The Hammers, who are 10 points clear of the relegation zone, were beaten 2-1 at Manchester City on Saturday and Allardyce is determined to add quality to his squad to build on an impressive first season back in the Premier League.

“To improve we just need to add better players, it’s that simple,” said Allardyce.

“We need to get a few more goals to get the points. We’ll address that in the summer and hopefully we’ll find some better players.”

West Ham host struggling Newcastle next week and midfielder Gary O’Neil is determined to cement their place in the top half. He said: “We’ll go into it trying to get another three points and see if we can stay in the top 10.”
