Ryoichi Maeda trial at West Ham

11 April 2012

West Ham are interested in signing Japanese international striker Ryoichi Maeda from J League club Jubilo Iwata

Maeda, 30, was due to arrive in London today for a five-day trial at the Championship club. He has 14 senior caps for his country, is twice a winner of Japan's Golden Boot award and has netted 115 goals in 260 appearances for his club.

FC Dallas central defender George John is also poised to join the East London club after completing a medical.

John, 24, could initially sign a short-term loan deal with a possibility of staying at West Ham permanently if things go well.

He was due to sign for Blackburn last summer but was unable to secure a work permit.
