Roy Hodgson has no plans to retire should he keep Crystal Palace in the top flight.

The 70-year-old, who has taken the club to the brink of safety and is already planning for next season, has one year left on his contract at Selhurst Park and wants to stay in charge.

A win at Stoke on Saturday will guarantee a survival that looked unlikely when Hodgson replaced Frank de Boer last September. Hodgson has turned things around and chairman Steve Parish hopes he can build on what he has achieved this season.

Hodgson does not know how long he will stay in management but he said recently he “feels young”.

Meanwhile, Palace captain Jason Puncheon was due to return to first-team training today after four months out with a serious knee injury.
