Chelsea have turned their attentions back to trying to re-sign Romelu Lukaku after having a second bid rejected for first choice target Alvaro Morata.

After turning down a deal worth £50m earlier this month, Chelsea failed in an offer worth £62m for the 23-year-old yesterday.

As revealed by Standard Sport this week, Morata wants to have talks with Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane over his future having only just been bought back from Juventus for £23m.

The Spain international, who is believed to be interested in a switch to Chelsea, arrived at Madrid's pre-season training camp in Montreal last night after having some time off after Euro 2016.

Speaking to the club's official website, Morata claimed he is purely focused on making an impact with the La Liga giants.

He said: “It is incredible to be here again. It is a dream come true and I can't wait to get started.

"Zidane works hard and does a lot of physical work. I have had two great years at Juventus, I learned a lot and I can only be thankful because without this experience I would not be here."

While Chelsea haven't given up and are expected to go back to Madrid with a third proposal, they are looking to now make a £50m offer to Everton for Lukaku.

The Belgium international has also been high on Chelsea's wish-list all summer, although Everton will ignore such a bid as they want at least £65m for his signature.

Standard Sport revealed in April that the striker is prepared to return to Stamford Bridge just two years after being sold to Everton for £28m because he feels he has unfinished business there.

Lukaku started just one League game for the Blues after arriving from Anderlecht for £18m in 2011.

The 23-year-old has scored 45 goals since completing a permanent move to Goodison Park and like Morata, is seen as a good partner for Diego Costa.

Chelsea face a struggle to convince Everton to sell though, especially with the arrival of the ambitious new owner Farhad Moshiri.
