Romelu Lukaku should not return to Chelsea if Diego Costa remains, says Danny Murphy

Danny Murphy17 March 2017

Unless it is certain that Diego Costa will leave Chelsea in the summer, I do not see the point of Romelu Lukaku returning to his former club.

He’s with Everton, a club who believe they are on the up.

He is the joint-leading scorer in the Premier League and he looks a million dollars.

What is the point exchanging that for a season where you would play less?

Okay, Lukaku would get more money and medals but if Costa stays, he will start most matches.

Conte on Lukaku exit

"It's always very difficult to always take the best decision. In football it's not simple to give always a correct evaluation for players."

For now, Lukaku has turned down a new contract at Everton and looks to have his sights set on a move elsewhere.

If that is back to Chelsea, is he really going to be better off than he is now?
