Roman Pavlyuchenko adds to Spurs injury woe

Injury: Roman Pavlyuchenko makes his way off the pitch at Stoke
11 April 2012

Roman Pavlyuchenko was today anxiously awaiting the results of a scan on the hamstring injury that threatens to bring a halt to his recent stunning form.

The Russian, who has scored eight goals in his last seven matches, limped out of Tottenham's 2-1 win at Stoke on Saturday after 36 minutes, joining fellow striker Jermain Defoe on the injury list.

Although Pavlyuchenko's replacement, Eidur Gudjohnsen, opened the scoring and had a hand in his team's winner, manager Harry Redknapp cannot afford another injury in his squad at a crucial time of the season.

Midfielders Aaron Lennon, David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas are all out with groin injuries, while Tom Huddlestone is still recovering from ankle ligament damage.

Defoe is also out with a hamstring tear, meaning Gudjohnsen and Peter Crouch might be Spurs' only fit strikers for Wednesday's FA Cup quarter-final replay against Fulham at White Hart Lane.

Redknapp must also decide whether to recall key midfielder Wilson Palacios for the Cup clash.

The Honduran was left on the bench at Stoke because one more booking will see him suspended for two matches.
