The Premier League title battle is an all‑Manchester affair but the individual accolades are staying in London after Robin van Persie and Kyle Walker took the prizes at the Professional Footballers’ Association awards last night.

Arsenal skipper Van Persie was named Player of the Year after scoring an incredible 34 goals this season. He said: “Without my team-mates, I could not have achieved this.”

Right-back Walker, 21, was named Young Player of the Year after impressing for both Tottenham and England. He tweeted today: “Just want to say a big thanks to all the nice tweeps from fans to players means a lot really.”

Last year’s awards were also a north London double with Tottenham’s Gareth Bale winning the main award and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere the other honour.
