Cristiano Ronaldo has racked up an impressive 30million followers on Twitter.
The Real Madrid man is the most followed sportsperson on the social media platform and was clearly delighted to reach his latest milestone.
After bagging four goals in Real Madrid’s victory over Elche on Tuesday, he took to Twitter the following day and thanked his followers
The Ballon d'Or winner tweeted: "Wow! Reached the 30 million followers on Twitter, it’s amazing. Thanks everyone."
And the Portugal international eclipses the chasing pack, with Kaka in second place on just over 20million followers. Ronaldo is no doubt benefiting from the popularity of his football club, Real, who have a staggering 12.8million followers – more than double that of third most-followed club side Arsenal.
The leading 10 sports stars are unsurprisingly predominantly football players, with basketball stars LeBron James and Kevin Durant the only professionals who make their money away from the football field.
Despite the English league’s popularity, Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is the only Premier League player to feature in the top 10 athletes.
