Zinedine Zidane leaves Real Madrid training camp in Montreal for personal reasons

Real Madrid have confirmed that head coach Zinedine Zidane has left the club's pre-season training camp in Montreal for personal reasons.

A club statement released on Friday afternoon read: "Our manager, Zinedine Zidane, has left the pre-season training camp in Montreal for personal reasons.

"Until he returns, sessions will be led by assistant coach David Bettoni."

Reports in Spain suggest that Zidane will rejoin his squad after a short period of time, and is expected to be in charge for Real's first pre-season game.

The Spanish club are currently based in Montreal, Canada, as they prepare for the 2019-20 season.

Los Blancos kick off their summer fixtures against Bayern Munich on Sunday 21 July in Texas before taking on Arsenal three days later in Maryland.

Real then face city rivals Atletico in New Jersey on July 27 and then Tottenham three days later in the Audi Cup in Munich, Germany.
