Real Madrid crashed out of the Champions League after they lost 2-0 to Chelsea in the second leg of the semi-final at Stamford Bridge to go out 3-1 on aggregate.

Here is how Giuseppe Muro rated the Real players on Wednesday night...

Thibaut Courtois 7

Not return the return Stamford Bridge he wanted but the Belgian goalkeeper made big saves to deny Kai Havertz and N’Golo Kante in the second half and a mixture of him, and wasteful finishing, made things nervy for Chelsea before Mason Mount’s goal.

Eder Militao 5

Over committed himself for the first goal and the right side of the Real defence looked vulnerable all night.

Nacho 5

The wrong side of Werner in the build-up to the first Chelsea goal and was booked for a foul on Havertz in the second half.

Back in the team after five weeks out but looked well short of match fitness as Real looked like an old team and were opened up time and again by Chelsea. Sold himself when Werner played a one-two with Kante in the build-up to the Chelsea goal and was booked in the first half for throwing Cesar Azpilicueta to the ground off the ball as he frustration boiled over. He now has 38 Champions League yellow cards - more than any player in the history of the competition.

Ferland Mendy 5

Passed a late fitness test after missing the last five matches but had a shaky evening.

Vinicius 5

Did not stretch the Chelsea defence and was ineffective before being taken off after the hour-mark.

Casemiro 5

Sold himself as N’Golo Kante played a one-two round him in the build-up to the Werner goal and was hauled off

Toni Kroos 6

The German has won everything in his career but could not help Real being overrun in midfield on a disappointing night for the Spanish giants.

Luka Modric 7

The former Tottenham man is still a class act at 35 but even he could not unlock a resolute Chelsea defence.

Looks a shadow of his former self. Was way off the pace and that is understandable given the amount of football he has missed this season. Injuries have hampered his career since he left Chelsea in a £130million deal in 2019 and looks a long way from his best. Zidane gambled by starting the Belgian but he was hooked on xx minutes.

Karim Benzema 6

Denied twice by two big saves from Edouard Mendy in the first half. Always a threat but did not get any good service in the second half.

Substitutes

Federico Valverde (Mendy 62’) Could not

Marco Asensio (Vinicius 62’)

Rodrygo (Casemiro 76’)

Mariano Diaz (Hazard 89’)

Subs not used: Lunin, Altube, Asensio, Marcelo, Odriozola, Isco, Arribas, Blanco, Gutierrez.
