After Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side clinched the Premier League title last season eight points ahead of nearest rivals Manchester City, it was perhaps understandable that the Portuguese coach did not feel the need to splash the cash on new signings this summer.

CHELSEA'S SUMMER SIGNINGS

Asmir Begovic
Papy Djilobodji
Radamel Falcao
Michael Hector (out on loan)
Kenedy
Nathan (out on loan)
Danilo Pantic (out on loan)
Pedro
Baba Rahman

That saw the Blues sign Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and Augsburg left-back Abdul Baba Rahman while striker Radamel Falcao arrived on loan from Monaco.

Chelsea also beat Manchester United to the signing of Spain international Pedro from Barcelona while the club secured moves for Kenedy, Papy Djilobodji, Michael Hector, Danilo Pantic and Nathan this summer.

"As Jose has said himself, results have not been good enough and the team's performances must improve," their statement read.

"However, we believe that we have the right manager to turn this season around and that he has the squad with which to do it."

But is his squad strong enough, and how have Chelsea's summer arrivals fared so far?
