Raheem Sterling backs Labour candidate Dawn Butler for Brent Central in short clip

Election fever: Sterling has urged the Brent Central electorate to vote Labour

Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling has shot a short clip backing Labour candidate Dawn Butler ahead of the forthcoming general election.

In a video uploaded to Butler's Youtube channel, the England international is shown sitting alongside the Brent Central candidate. The Member of Parliament introduces Sterling before he urges the Brent electorate to vote for Labour in next month's general election.

Butler was the Member of Parliament for Brent South between May 2005 and May 2010, but lost out to Liberal Democrats candidate Sarah Teather five years ago when three constituencies merged to form Brent Central. Sterling was aged 10 growing up in the area when Butler was voted into Parliament.

The Reds star says in the video: "Hi, my name's Raheem Sterling and I'd just like to say a big thank you to Dawn for helping me and my family when we lived in Brent. She's been a massive help to us when I was growing up and hopefully we can see her as MP again soon."
