Jose Mourinho has revealed Radamel Falcao will be out of action for the immediate future after suffering an "important" injury in training.

Falcao has endured a disappointing time since sealing a season-long move to the champions from Monaco this summer, and has scored just one goal for Chelsea this term.

Mourinho opted to bring on Falcao ahead of Loic Remy during the club's 3-1 Premier League defeat to Liverpool on Saturday, but the striker failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.

And the Blues boss has since confirmed ahead of Chelsea's key Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday that the Colombia star will not be available for the game after sustaining an injury, which Mourinho failed to specify the nature of after being pressed on the issue.

"Falcao had today an important injury," he said on Tuesday.

"Not so important like the one he had previously. But he will be out for a few weeks.

"There is not point speaking about him. Just giving you the sad news."

Mourinho is also set to be without Pedro and Branislav Ivanovic for Chelsea's Group G clash at Stamford Bridge in midweek, with the pair recovering from minor injuries, while Thibaut Courtois remains out of action following knee surgery that he had earlier in the season.
