Millwall 0 QPR 0: Managerless Hoops ease relegation fears with hard-earned point but winless run goes on

Giuseppe Muro10 April 2019

Managerless QPR edged further away from the relegation mire at the bottom of the Championship with a battling draw against Millwall.

Caretaker boss John Eustace saw Rangers miss several chances to win the game but a point eases their relegation fears while they search for a new manager to replace Steve McClaren.

QPR are now six points above the bottom three, while the result leaves Millwall still in trouble in the battle to stay up.

The Lions move up to 19th and above Wigan after they lost. Millwall are now two points above Rotherham, who lost to Aston Villa, and they have a game in hand.

Both teams pushed for a winner that could have been crucial in the relegation fight but in the end they each had to settle for a draw at the end of a match that was low on quality.

The point for QPR felt like a good one given their miserable form. They have now won just once in 17 Championship games but this result gives them a bit of breathing space at the bottom.

This was a chance for Millwall to take a huge step towards safety on a night when Rotherham and Wigan both lost.

QPR striker Matt Smith missed a hat-trick of headed chances and substitute Bright Osayi-Samuel could have won it late on but Millwall goalkeeper David Martin made a good save.

Millwall struggled to create much in the way of chances and defender Alex Pearce had their best opportunity when his back-post header was saved.
