Bradley Orr maintains Queen's Park Rangers players are ready to "die for each other" as they bid to stay in the Barclays Premier League next season.
The west London club have not been back in the top flight since being relegated in 1996, and dropped down into the third tier of English football before finally finding their way up among the elite again under Neil Warnock.
However, like all three promoted clubs, last season's npower Championship winners are expected to be in for a tough campaign.
Nevertheless, defender Orr is in no doubt the squad's bond can take them a long way.
"Team spirit was massive last year - we have got men in this dressing that would die for each other," Orr told the club's official website, www.qpr.co.uk.
"There's winners in this dressing room and when you know you can look a team-mate in the eye and see he's given everything for the cause, that makes for a really positive spirit. That will be a massive factor for us over the course of the season."
Key to QPR's progress will be the performance of captain Adel Taarabt.
The Moroccan playmaker made his first warm-up appearance in last night's 1-0 defeat to Cesena in Italy.
Taarabt was instrumental in QPR's npower Championship title charge, but had been linked with a big-money move away from Loftus Road to Paris St Germain.
However, after majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore confirmed the 22-year-old would not be leaving during the transfer window, all of the QPR squad are relishing the prospect of Taarabt helping them take on the best around.
"Adel is super-talented and it was good to see him back out there," Orr said. "He's our captain and our talisman and he makes things happen.
"He can turn a game on the drop of a hat, so it's positive that he's staying."
Orr continued: "No-one really knew what Adel's situation was over the summer. We didn't know whether he'd stay or go, but like I say, with Adel Taarabt on the pitch, we're always going to create chances and that can only be a positive for Queens Park Rangers."
