Arsenal blew Manchester United away with an unforgettable first half to move up to second in the league with a 3-0 win.
After a hellish few weeks the Gunners hit heights rarely seen at the Emirates to put themselves in with a hunt for a first league title in over a decade.
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez were at their outstanding best in the opening period, with the German providing a cross for the forward to backheel in an opener inside the first three minutes.
It got even better for Arsenal three minutes later as a flowing move from defence to attack saw Theo Walcott cut the ball back for Ozil to make it 2-0.
Sanchez added the third, cutting in and powering a shot past David de Gea to make it 3-0.
United were not on the end of a similar shellacking in the second but the damage was already done – Arsenal look like a team capable of winning the league.
