Andy Carroll has urged the West Ham fans to help the team turn their season around in a staunch criticism of the club’s support.

Thousands of fans left the London Stadium early during Saturday’s defeat to Liverpool, with some home supporters leaving the ground after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put the Reds 3-1 ahead on 56 minutes.

The Hammers would go on to lose the match 4-1, and following Everton’s victory on Sunday, now find themselves in the relegation zone.

Manager Slaven Bilic is set to be sacked in the next 24 hours, with former Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland manager David Moyes expected to replace him in the coming days.

And while Carroll says the players should take the blame for their performances, he insists the fans have to play their part also.

“We should be playing better. It’s us to blame. But they should be helping us out a bit,” said Carroll.

“They really should be staying. They should stay until the end. You never know what’s going to happen.

“They walked out at half-time against Tottenham when we were getting beaten 2-0 and we turned it round.

“Look at Crystal Palace fans last week,” he continued. “Look what happened in the 97th minute.

“Fans should stay until the end, regardless of the team.

“Obviously, it frustrates you. You don’t think about it during the game.

“But when you see the game back and you see the fans leaving, they shouldn’t really be leaving.”
