More than half of all fans watching top-flight football in England are paying less than £30 per match for their tickets, according to the Premier League’s second annual pricing survey.

The study is the most comprehensive analysis of the cost of attending games ever undertaken.

Special offers and loyalty discounts mean that one in three season tickets are sold below full price, while the average ticket price across the Premier League is £32.

Premier League executive chairman Richard Scudamore said: “This research shows the excellent value clubs offer. I hope it challenges commonly-held perceptions about the cost of attending football.”

The study includes tickets sold in all parts of grounds, except hospitality areas, and the per-match cost of season tickets is found by dividing its price by the number of games it covers.
