Portsmouth debt leaps £18m in one month

11 April 2012

Portsmouth's administrators revealed today the club are £138million in debt — £18m more than was announced last month.

The meeting was being held for creditors to vote on a debt-repayment plan that would allow the club to emerge from administration.

Relegated Portsmouth are still searching for new owners but despite their troubles this season, Avram Grant has still managed to guide them to the FA Cup Final.

Grant has yet to pledge his future to Pompey but Michael Brown is anxious the manager stays.

The midfielder said: "He's very knowledgeable but he's laid-back and keeps his emotions in check most of the time.

"He's done a great job under difficult circumstances and I'm sure the administrator is trying to get him to stay. As players, all we can do is concentrate on what we do and hopefully he is here next season."
