Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had only 13 touches of the ball in their 5-1 defeat at Liverpool … and six of those were from kick-off.

The Gabonese forward, who led the line at Anfield before being substituted for Alexandre Lacazette on 71 minutes, endured a frustrating evening on Merseyside.

Aubameyang, who remains second in the golden boot race behind Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, was limited to just one shot at Anfield… and even that was off target.

That stat says a lot about Arsenal’s defeat at Liverpool.

Manager Unai Emery put what was the biggest defeat of his Arsenal reign down to defensive weaknesses.

"We had chances and we were getting in their box," Arsenal manager Emery told BT Sport 1.

"But we know defensively we need to get better.

"We played against Liverpool three years ago in the Europa League (when Emery was Sevilla manager), last year they were in the final of the Champions League and they progress a lot.

"It is one example for us and we need to do this progress."
