Petr Cech: Chelsea determined to win league title after FA Cup exit left players reeling

Chelsea’s FA Cup defeat at Manchester City left the players angry and even more determined to win the title, according to goalkeeper Petr Cech.

The 2-0 loss brought to an end a 12-game unbeaten run less than a fortnight after Chelsea had defeated City for a second time in the League.

League leaders Chelsea, who have a one-point advantage over Arsenal with City two points further back, have had a free week to prepare for the visit of Everton tomorrow.

“Fighting spirit is coming out because we were really disappointed with the way the game went for us and obviously we’re out of the FA Cup,” said Cech.

“We want to make sure our performance goes a completely different way and we’re going to go back to winning games.

“It is always good when you have time to prepare, to work, to recover and to relax. We have had quite a busy schedule and you could see the difference when City didn’t play their midweek game [against Sunderland, which was called off due to the weather] and they had more energy than us.”

Captain John Terry has been in training for the past few days and is in line to return after three weeks out with a leg muscle injury.
