Paulo Ferreira looking to end career at Chelsea

Staying put: Paulo Ferreira joined Chelsea in 2004
11 April 2012

Paulo Ferreira has revealed he wants to spend the rest of his career at Chelsea.

Ferreira appears to have slipped to third-choice right-back at Stamford Bridge behind Branislav Ivanovic and Jose Bosingwa.

But despite having not featured for the first team for more than a month, the 32-year-old former Portugal defender has no intention of jumping ship.

Ferreira, who joined Chelsea in 2004 and who has another two years remaining on his contract, said: "I have been seven years here at Chelsea and it is the club where I have spent most time.

"My family are happy here, so let's see if I can finish playing here as well."

When he eventually does retire, Ferreira plans to establish an academy in Estoril in his native Portugal.

"I have in my mind to open an academy back home in my village," he said. "I want to be involved in helping kids play football and to teach them what I have learned."
